Campaign Finance

Campaign Finance refers to both the fundraising and campaign expenditures of a political party or a candidate, and there are legal provisions to regulate campaign financing so as to level the playing field among the “players.‟ In the Philippines, the Omnibus Election Code provides for equal opportunity by putting a cap on the contributions and expenditures of political parties. It also promotes transparency by requiring political parties to submit financial statements; those who cross the limits are to be penalized (Article XI. Electoral Contributions and Expenditure, Omnibus Election Code).
