Elections in Timor Leste are regulated by the Constitution, the Law no. 6/2006 on the Election of the National Parliament (amended in 2007 and 2011), the Law No. 7/2006 on the election of the President of the Republic (amended in 2007, 2011, 2012 and 2016), the Law No. 5/2006 regulating the electoral administration bodies (amended in 2011 and 2016) as well as other laws adopted by the National Parliament and regulations edited by the National Elections Commission (CNE).
